Case Study: Custom Outdoor Tactical Fiber Optic Assembly

A training base at one of the Navy’s high-tech facilities needed a method to analyze soldiers’ shooting and ammunition performance in harsh environmental conditions.
Cables Unlimited military assembly specialists went to work and designed a strategic fiber optic application, complete with tactical cable reels and IP67 and IP68 rated connectors.
The specialized device monitored the harsh, high-heat desert environment’s effects and its impact on the soldiers’ biological condition. The fiber optic cable assembly met the Navy’s stringent requirements on durability and flexibility to accommodate the equipment’s mobility.
Rugged IP67 and IP68 connectors were used in this outdoor application to prevent dust and water from damaging the operation.
Mobility and rapid cable deployments were Naval requirements for this application. To outmaneuver the harsh environmental scenarios, we used specialized fiber optic cabling, quality IP67 and IP68 connectors, and tactical reels.
Our custom assembly was precisely what the Navy required for tracking soldier execution in harsh desert environments.
