CAH ConnectionsSM GOLD Program

Corning Fiber Optic Cable Part Numbers.

The Corning Cable Systems CAH Connections SM GOLD Program represents the highest standard for manufacturers of optical patch cords.

Only an elite group of cable assembly houses (CAHs) meets the high production and quality standards required to be eligible for this program. These companies have demonstrated, over a period of many years, a proven track record of manufacturing and business excellence. By working with Corning Cable Systems, and using our high-quality cable assembly components, CAH Connections Gold Program members offer the speed and flexibility of a cable assembly house with the high-quality products and backing of a world leader in optical components.

Because of this, Corning Cable Systems can extend its 25-year Extended WarrantySM Program (EWP) coverage to include single- and 2-fiber patch cords manufactured by a CAH Connections Gold Program member for any project installed by a certified EWP member.

That's coverage you can truly count on.

Selecting your optical patch cord manufacturer is critical, as optical patch cords play a critical role within your cabling infrastructure:

  • Patch cords are typically the most handled cabling component in the network.
  • Optical connections are the most likely area for loss after an installation.
  • Patch cords are often the only infrastructure product plugged directly into electronics. Patch cords can cause irreparable damage to electronics if components aren't manufactured to FOCIS specifications.

Not all patch cords are created equal. With so many low-cost alternatives out there, you risk receiving a low-quality patch cord that can negatively affect network performance.

When purchasing an optical patch cord, keep in mind the following:

Optical Performance: High-quality end-face geometry minimizes unnecessary loss at the connector. This is especially critical as optical budgets tighten due to higher network speeds and an increased number of connections in network designs.

Mechanical Performance: Corning Cable Systems components are manufactured to enable compliance, once assembled, with the Telcordia GR-326 performance standard. This is an extremely stringent standard used to ensure optical assembly performance over a range of environmental, mechanical and time parameters.

Hidden Costs: Consider the hidden costs associated with trading out a defective patch cord: determining the problem; the time and resources expended to order, receive and physically replace the defective patch cord; and the downtime while all of this is going on.

Proven Reliability: Corning Cable Systems components are manufactured in ISO-certified facilities, and Corning Cable Systems has the expertise, processes, equipment and proven history to conduct appropriate testing and validate those test results.

 Why does connector end-facegeometry matter?

Corning Cable Systems has promised its customers quality, technological superiority and best-in-class service since its inception more than 25 years ago. This same promise is required of CAH ConnectionsSM Gold Program members.

Corning Cable Systems strict qualifications for membership include:

  • A thorough quality process that has been both documented and audited by Corning Cable Systems.
  • Adherence to Corning Cable Systems recommended manufacturing processes.
  • Use of Corning Cable Systems-defined consumable and manufacturing materials.
  • Defined product volume to ensure product and process familiarity among workers.
  • Recommendations by industry leaders based on the member company's history of service and business excellence.
  • Annual participation in Corning Cable Systems training.

How do you know you have a patch cord manufactured by a CAH ConnectionsSM Gold Program member using high-quality Corning Cable Systems components?

  • Look for the "PlusCorning" logo on the connector and "Corning Optical Cable" text on the cable.
  • CAH Connections Gold Program members have access to special packaging indicating their elite status and the quality of the patch cord.

  • A complete list of CAH Connections Gold Program member companies is always available at www.corning.com/cablesystems.

What does CAH ConnectionsSM Gold Program status mean for you?

  • You get the peace of mind that comes with knowing you have a high-quality patch cord manufactured by a tested and trusted supplier.
  • You have the assurance that the speed and performance gains you expect after purchasing network software and hardware components are fully realized and not compromised by excessive loss or failure.
  • The additional peace of mind that comes with a 25-year warranty: For CAH Connections Gold Program members, Corning Cable Systems will extend its Extended WarrantySM Program (EWP) 25-year warranty coverage on single- and 2-fiber jumpers manufactured by a CAH Connections Gold Program member for any project installed by a certified EWP member.
  • Patch cords are the most dynamic, handled and reconfigured components within a cabling infrastructure. A CAH Connections Gold Program member patch cord gives you one less thing to worry about.
